Cheap Diction (2021)

Inspired by blues, classic, and progressive rock, the Mayhaps make a nostalgic introduction via analog tape on their debut record, Cheap Diction. The title comes from the track “Apostrophe,” a self-commentary on the limitation of words and an ever-shrinking attention span. Her lyrics being the centerpiece of the record, PerShayla delivers raw vocals that come through on the energetic and introspective songs alike, the band emphasizing the message through thoughtful arrangements and compelling guitar solos.

Oracle Bones EP (2019)

WYCE Jammie Award Winner for Best Rock/Pop 2019.

Before there were The Mayhaps, Patty released a solo EP on Friday the 13th of September in 2019. Oracle Bones is a Halloween-inspired concept album, influenced in part by Alice Cooper’s Welcome to My Nightmare. The debut record has songs ranging from dark, acoustic tracks (trick) to brighter arrangements with ukulele (treat), including a cover of The Ink Spots’ 1941 classic, “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire.” This release was Patty’s introduction as a recording artist and was tracked in the bonafide basement studio of her friend and mentor, Paul Abel. Oracle Bones highlights Patty’s strengths in songwriting, vocal expression, diverse instrumentation, and collaboration.
